The European Commission has recently awarded a pan-European consortium lead by Professor Mike McNamee at Swansea University to deliver the world’s first ever MAster degree in Sport ethics and Integrity MAiSI. (http://www.maisi-project.eu/)
This two year full time degree aims to develop professionally qualified experts to take up roles in sports and related organisations in response to the range of threats to the integrity of sports as ethically valuable practices and to the integrity of sports organisations and associated sectors. The degree is multidisciplinary in nature, spanning ethics and economics, governance, law and management, and will equip students with a depth of expertise in matters as diverse as safe sport, match fixing, good governance, and athlete welfare.
Its Program is designed to be both academically rigorous and vocationally relevant. It draws upon globally recognised research expertise in the field of Sport Ethics and Integrity, and is supported by a number of key organisations from national and international sports federations, National Olympic Committees, lottery organisations, and sectors of education, politics and commerce.
The MAiSI course has received substantial funding from the Erasmus Mundus program of he European Commission, and offers substantial scholarships to the best students from around the world.
